The race
Why race the Olympic Distance
The classic short course on the same laps as the Middle Distance, just half as many: a 1.5 kilometre swim, two bike laps and two run laps. The race goes off in three waves from 11:15, so you ride in a dense field and always have someone ahead of you on the course. For many it is their way into triathlon, for others the fast race of the weekend.
What you need to know
- Drafting is prohibited on the entire bike course
- Personal nutrition on the bike is allowed only in the zone at the start of each bike lap, right after the first small climb. There you may stage your own supplies or have supporters hand them to you
- No littering in the personal nutrition zone, take your packaging with you. At the official aid stations you may drop cups and packaging within the station area
- Hand-ups from supporters on the run course are allowed before and after the aid stations
