Why race here

What makes this race special

  • Swim in Europe's warmest swimming lake

Lake Klopein warms up nicely over the summer and holds its temperature into September. That makes the swim pleasant even early in the morning, and you get onto the bike without being chilled.

  • A bike loop through six municipalities

22.5 kilometres past three lakes, plus one climb per lap that you will feel. Pace yourself and you will post a good bike split here.

  • The run lap circles the whole lake

Flat, with spectators along almost the entire length. On the Middle Distance you pass the finish arch four times before making the final turn.

Since 1983

Austria's first triathlon happened here

In 1983, the country's first triathlon was held at Lake Klopein. Then came 35 quiet years, until TRI Team Südkärnten brought the race back. 2026 marks the eighth edition since the return.
